Go dynamic
There is this well-known idiom, "The true face of Lushan is lost to my sight, for it is right in this mountain that I reside." When one speaks of seeing, there are at least two positions: seeing something from afar and up close. And that stretched and indefinite space between the two poles is not a prologue; It is the substance.
Hang's "Go Dynamic Field" series consists of large room-scale installations she exhibited in Berlin, London, and Zurich between 2017 and 2020. Drawing inspiration from the East Asian board game Go, Hang combines spherical painted sculptures, abstract landscape wall drawings, and wall-mounted tapes to explore notions of depth, distance, and movement within an installation field, facilitating the wandering between multiple vanishing points.
Each room installation, which often consists of painted sculptural pieces and wall drawings or taped lines, not only activates but also disturbs the normalised spatial hierarchy.
